Patch Notes (10/27/2023) Update 1.4.2

Player Scaling, Grappling Hooks, Safe Zone Teleporting, and more! Let’s dive into what’s new to Skillfite.io in Update 1.4.2!

Player Scaling With Combat Skills

  • You will now scale as you level up your combat skills! Your character starts off smaller, and as you level up your combat skills your character incrementally scales up. Please keep in mind that your size only increases when the combat skill (melee or archery) that is the highest level of the two levels up.

Grappling Hook

  • We are excited to introduce Grappling Hooks! When equipped, you can aim and shoot it like a bow to ‘grapple’ an NPC or player. When a character is ‘grappled’, they will be pulled towards the player who ‘grappled’ them.
  • Please note that the Grappling Hook does have a maximum amount of uses, which is currently 10. After it breaks, you will have to find another one, which you can do so by killing animals. The Grappling Hook is a rare drop from all NPCs.

Safe Zone Teleport Totems

  • Each safe zone now has a teleport totem. If the safe zone is active, you can interact with it to teleport to a random safe zone.

Melee Combat Adjustments & Fixes

We were happy to hear all the feedback and suggestions from last week’s melee rework! From that feedback, we have implemented a few changes.

  • The Melee speed boost has been changed so there is only a speed boost for roughly half a second upon starting to aim your attack, and then a short speed boost when you swing your sword.
  • We fixed an issue with the update that resulted in swords contributing to one’s combat level too high, resulting in less loot being dropped for the player. Melee equipment now contributes to your combat level the same as Archery equipment does.

Other New Features & Gameplay Improvements

  • We have removed the ‘dash to break items into Skill Tokens’ system. We may bring it back in the future in a different way, but for now, we feel it does not affect gameplay in a positive way.
  • When you are aiming and walking backwards you now move slightly slower.
  • We have boosted the movement speed of players and animals.
  • Added a few anti-spam features in the chat.

Bugfixes:

  • Fixed a bug which caused a seam to show in between level tiles
  • Fixed an issue where the random fish respawn would eventually be higher-level fish only, no matter where in the map it was. Now, the fish will always return to their original tier after a short time, while keeping random in what usually respawns.

  1. Grappling Hooks are trash. made the game uplayable for solos, you just cannot run from 2 people now, pvp is that you cannot win 1 v 2 and now you cannot run, great.

  2. The only way of fixing teaming right now is when you hit/get hit by another player, the two players should be only able to attack/grapple each other and noone else for 8-10 seconds, refreshing with each hit. Also refreshing 50% HP for a player kill. These 2 fixes will fix teaming.
